Equipment and standings for Darts
Though in online darts implementation the real Darts equipment is not necessary we describe it here:
Each player has 3 darts which are front-weighted, flighted, weapons a few inches long with a sharp point.
The board is placed so that the middle of the Bullseye is 5 feet, 8 inches (1.73m) above the ground. Players should stand behind a raised horizontal block 1 1/2 inches (38 mm) high,
although any mark on the ground will do for casual play. The front of the oche should be 7 feet, 9 and 1/4 inches (2.37m) from the front of the board.
501 Darts rules
The the most popular games of darts are so called "01" games - the classic games of Darts, played world-wide. They include the professional 501 and its variations like 301, 601, 801, 1001 Darts.
In fact all these games are played from a certain number of points, always ending in "01". For example, the common tournament game of 501 is played from 501 points.
Other variations are 301, 601, 801, 1001. The higher point games are usually played by teams.
301 is played in exactly the same way but players start the game with 301. Some games require a double to start scoring as well as to finish the game.
A player starts with a score of 501 and takes turns to throw 3 darts. The score for each turn is calculated and deducted from the players total.
Bullseye scores 50, the outer ring scores 25 and a dart in the double or treble ring counts double or treble the segment score.
The objective is to be the first player (to use a minimal number of turns) to reduce the score to exactly zero with the shortest time.
Darts game finishing - going out of Darts game
The going-out rule: the dart that brings the score down to zero must be a double.
Doubles consist of the numbers in the outside narrow scoring band and the centre
(small) bullseye. If a player reduces the score to 1 or goes below zero,
the score is bust, that turn ends immediately and the score is returned to
what it was at the start of that turn. For example if a player has 30 to go out
and the first dart is a 15, the second is a 14, the player is bust and
the score is returned to 30. So on the last turn, it is not necessary to
throw all 3 darts - a player can win with the first or second dart of the turn.
Darts 501 game implementation
You do not need to double in the last throw.
So that the standard going-out rule is not applied here.
